Your CV is losing you contracts before anyone reads it.

Most IT Manager CVs list responsibilities when they should be proving outcomes. Ours are written by people who've actually hired IT Managers — and who know what a hiring manager scans for in the eleven seconds before they decide. Written by humans, not a template generator.

Why CVs fail

“Responsible for managing the IT infrastructure” tells a hiring manager nothing.

It's the single most common line on an IT Manager CV, and it's invisible. Compare it to: “Cut unplanned downtime 62% in nine months by rebuilding backup and DR across four sites, on a £40k budget.” Same job. One gets a call back.

Duties, not outcomes

Your CV lists what you were responsible for. Every other candidate's does too. Nobody's CV says what actually changed because they turned up — which is the only thing a hiring manager is trying to work out.

Buried by the filter

Clever two-column layouts, icons and text boxes often confuse the applicant tracking system that reads your CV first. If it can't parse your experience, a human never sees it. Design isn't the point — being read is.

Same CV, every role

One generic CV sent to an infrastructure role, a security role and an interim director role will underperform on all three. The evidence a board wants isn't the evidence a service desk lead wants.

Packages

Three ways to fix it

One-off prices, no subscription. Every package is written by a real person who has hired IT Managers — and includes a call, because nobody writes a good CV from a form.

Prices shown are illustrative. A better CV improves how your experience is presented and read — it can't manufacture experience you don't have, and no one can promise you a role.

Common questions

The CV service, answered

It should improve your hit rate, and here's the honest mechanism: a good CV doesn't invent anything, it stops your real achievements being invisible. Most IT Manager CVs bury genuinely impressive work under generic duty statements, and get filtered out or skim-read past. Fixing that means the experience you already have actually lands. What it can't do is manufacture experience you don't have, or make you a fit for roles you're not qualified for — and anyone promising you a specific number of interviews or a guaranteed job is selling you something they can't deliver. We won't.

A person writes it, and specifically a person with hiring experience in IT. We use AI for some of the mechanical parts — checking ATS parsing, spotting keyword gaps against a target role — because it's genuinely good at that. But the actual writing is human, because the value is in the discovery call: someone asking “what actually changed because you were there?” and pushing until you produce the number you'd forgotten. A generator can't do that. It just reformats what you already wrote badly.

Your current CV, whatever state it's in, and a call — 30 to 60 minutes depending on the package. The call is the important part and we can't skip it. We'll ask what you inherited, what you changed, what it cost, what broke, and what the business got out of it. Most people arrive convinced they have nothing quantifiable and leave with six solid numbers they'd genuinely forgotten about. Then you'll get a draft, and we iterate until you're happy with it.

Often, yes — and the Contract Ready package exists partly for this. The best time to write down what you achieved is while you remember the detail, not two years later when you're suddenly job-hunting under pressure and can't recall the downtime figure. It also feeds your platform profile, which the match engine uses to surface you to employers for off-market roles. Plenty of IT Managers here aren't actively looking; they just want to be findable if something genuinely better appears.

They're separate but they feed each other. Your platform profile is free and is what our match engine reads when it scores you against employers' briefs — so a sharper, outcome-led profile means better matches and more relevant approaches. The CV service produces the document you send elsewhere, and the Contract Ready package includes optimising your platform profile too. You absolutely don't need to buy anything to use the platform: create a free profile, get matched, and never pay us a penny. The CV service is there if you want the document itself improved.

Or skip the CV entirely.

Create a profile and let the match engine put you in front of employers directly — including the ones who aren't advertising. It's free, and you stay invisible to your current employer.
